X5 Tech Migrates All Checkout Systems at Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, and Chizhik to Domestic Software
X5 Group has completed a large-scale technology migration, moving roughly 140,000 checkout devices across all three of its retail chains to an in-house platform developed by X5 Tech.

The project began after foreign vendors exited the Russian market and gradually evolved into a unified system covering all checkout scenarios. The platform now processes about 25 million receipts per day. It powers more than 69,000 self-checkout stations and over 70,000 cashier-operated registers. The system supports multiple device formats, from keyboard-based terminals to touchscreen systems, and integrates with scanners, scales, payment terminals, and fiscal receipt printers.
The unified architecture allowed X5 to cut its software codebase nearly in half compared with the previous system. New features now only need to be implemented once before becoming available across all checkout devices. That approach is already being used for age verification through the MAX messenger platform and payments via the Apelsin service.
