AI Covers: Create Your Own Musical Hit
Developers from Novosibirsk have created an app called AI Covers, which lets users generate song covers with the help of artificial intelligence in a single interface. The product opens up new opportunities for creativity and learning.
An 'All-in-One' Approach
The app was developed by graduate students Mikhail Kireyenko and Danil Matveev from the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI), under the guidance of faculty member Egor Antonyants. It combines and automates all stages of creating covers.
The program includes several modules, each responsible for a specific task. The first separates vocals from instrumental tracks. The second uses neural networks to transform the voice, transferring timbre and intonation. The third combines vocals with backing tracks and other components. The fourth allows users to train their own voice models—an option that sets AI Covers apart from existing services. This feature makes the app not just a tool for remixing, but for personal musical creativity.
“AI analyzes the original vocal and reproduces it using different voice models. A user can work with ready-made models or train the system based on their own voice,” explains Antonyants.
Not Just Convenient, but Unique
The new app stands out for its high level of customization. Users can generate unique vocal tracks, making it a platform for personal compositions rather than standardized covers. The technology can also be applied in music education.
In recent years, interest in AI-based music tools has been growing in Russia, but nothing quite like this app exists yet. It follows multiple experiments with integrating AI into production processes, including speech-to-text transformers, voice assistants, and neural-network learning platforms.
The app will soon be available to the public. The developers are currently working to expand format support and build an online version of the project.
