Alice AI Learns to Remove Backgrounds and Find Products by Name
Yandex’s AI assistant received a package of updates in May that expands its capabilities for image editing and online shopping. The latest update to Yandex’s Alice AI assistant introduces several new features designed to improve work with photos and online purchases. The changes are now available to all users.
The most notable addition is a background-removal tool. Users can open the “Ozhivi foto” (Animate Photo) section, upload an image, and ask Alice to remove the background. The result is a clean PNG image with a transparent background. Users can also now ask questions about a specific area within a photo rather than the entire image, and Alice will respond only about the selected region. Photos can be uploaded without signing in.
Yandex has also combined photo editing and animation into a single workflow. After editing an image, users can click an “Animate” button directly from the results screen, and the system automatically begins creating a short video clip.
The company also upgraded its “Find It Cheaper” AI agent. Previously, users needed to provide a product link, but now a product name and model number are enough. The service now displays labels such as “Below Market,” “Fair Price,” and “Above Market” alongside listed prices to help users quickly assess offers. A new regional filter has also been added, making it easier to shop for deliveries in other cities.
