More Than 2,400 Students Take Part in Trial of New Antiplagiat System
Russian software developer Antiplagiat has completed a pilot test of a new system that records not only the final version of a student's paper but also the process of creating it.
The pilot involved more than 2,400 students and over 750 instructors from 28 universities across 20 Russian regions. More than 10,000 submissions were reviewed during the trial.
The new system records the sequence in which a document is created, the use of external sources, and passages showing signs of generative AI. Students can also use a chat window to explain how they used AI tools while preparing their work. DeepSeek was the most widely used system among pilot participants, cited by 95% of students. ChatGPT was used by 85%, Yandex's Alisa AI by 25%, and both GigaChat and Claude by 13%.
On average, instructors left 25 comments on each paper, while more than 60% of students said they valued the ability to communicate with their academic supervisor directly within the system.
The company plans to release an updated version of the system this autumn.
