More Than One Million Russians Enroll Children in First Grade Through Digital Portal

Over 1.1 million school enrollment applications were submitted this year via Russia’s Gosuslugi platform, which has become the primary channel for two-thirds of families enrolling their children in first grade.

Russia’s school admission campaign has concluded, underscoring citizens’ growing trust in digital services. Through the unified Gosuslugi portal, parents submitted more than 1.1 million applications to enroll children in first grade—a figure 13 percent higher than last year.

Three-quarters of all parents of incoming first graders used the service. The campaign unfolded in two stages. The first wave, which began on March 18, was reserved for children with preferential rights or those enrolling at their registered address. Nearly 20 percent of applications were filed within minutes of the system opening. The second wave, covering the remaining spots, added another 153,800 digital applications.

Families in St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk region, Dagestan, Tatarstan, and Bashkortostan were among the most active users of the platform.

The Gosuslugi portal is not only becoming more convenient, it is evolving into the main and most popular channel for citizen interaction with the state.
