Hogweed in Kaliningrad Region to Be Brought Under Digital Control
The fight against Sosnowsky's hogweed in the Kaliningrad Region will move online. To that end, authorities will upgrade the agro-industrial complex's information and analytical system.

The system will gain a section titled "Elimination of Sosnowsky's Hogweed" and electronic field report forms. The new tools will make it possible to monitor online how agricultural land is being cleared and how effective the measures taken are.
The modernization document was prepared by the regional Ministry of Digital Technologies and Communications, and the work will be financed from the regional budget, according to the regional government's website.
By order No. 195 of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources dated May 13, 2026, Sosnowsky's hogweed has been classified as an invasive plant. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, 690 hectares of agricultural land overgrown with the plant were identified in the region in 2025. A year earlier, the infested area stood at 5,419 hectares.
