The Chelyabinsk region has installed 10 additional wildfire monitoring posts this year, bringing the total to 110 cameras, all connected to an AI system. The update was announced by Valery Nigmatullin, head of the regional forestry department, during a broadcast by the regional management center.

“The governor set a task this year to install ten additional monitoring posts, and we have completed it. Three of them were placed along the borders of federally protected areas, and we have also expanded coverage into the mining and industrial zone. In total, 110 monitoring posts are now operating, covering most of the southern and central parts of the region, including high-risk fire areas,” Nigmatullin said.

The AI system continuously monitors camera feeds with full 360-degree coverage.

“Last year we launched pilot projects, and this year all cameras have been connected to AI. It detects ignition points and automatically sends alerts to the dispatch service, speeding up response times,” he added.

Previously, four dispatchers had to manually monitor the camera feeds, rotating the view across 360 degrees.
