Russia to Celebrate Programmer’s Day with a Nationwide IT Dictation

The annual holiday, observed on the 256th day of the year, will feature an open digital literacy test accessible to everyone from schoolchildren to advanced users.

Russia will mark Programmer’s Day this year with a nationwide IT dictation, an event designed to test and raise digital literacy. The campaign will run online from September 12 to 13, allowing anyone to participate.

The dictation consists of multiple-choice questions at different levels of difficulty. Even elementary school students can take part at the entry level, while standard and advanced tiers are available for more experienced users.

Questions will cover basic computer skills, internet use, and a wide range of technology-related topics. Participants will be able to evaluate their knowledge of IT, and upon completion, receive a personalized certificate showing their score in their online account.

Participation is open through the platform it-dictant.ru.

Programmer’s Day in Russia is celebrated on the 256th day of the year, a nod to the 2⁸ possible values represented by an eight-bit byte.
