A free online cybersecurity course has been launched in Russia, according to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Tatarstan. The guide, developed by MTS, explains common tactics used by cybercriminals and introduces the basics of digital hygiene.

The course includes 12 thematic modules that teach users how to identify phishing websites, recognize signs of fake phone numbers and accounts, and detect artificially generated images and videos. Participants are offered a final test at the end of the program.

Spam Calls Decline

According to the Ministry of Digital Development of Tatarstan, joint efforts by government agencies, digital companies, and law enforcement have helped reduce fraudulent activity. In 2025, the number of spam calls in the region fell by 23 percent. Authorities also blocked 70 million suspicious calls.

Albert Yakovlev, deputy minister of digital development of the republic, said the introduction of new technologies has contributed to the decline in scam calls. “But the key element of protection remains the user, which is why it is important to keep learning how to recognize signs of fraud,” he said.
