Digital Algorithms Help Discover Millions of Tons of Resources in Yugra
A data processing system developed by Gazprom Neft has enabled the discovery of new oil reserves in western Siberia.

Digital technologies have helped specialists at Gazprom Neft identify two new deposits at fields in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. The total volume of resources is estimated at around 4 million tons, uncovered using advanced geological data processing systems.
“After analyzing data from the entire exploration and development history of mature fields, a digital system developed by Gazprom Neft identified new promising layers at depths of more than 3 kilometers. Initial wells have already confirmed the presence of oil,” company representatives said.
Advanced IT tools have been supporting resource exploration for years, both at new sites and at fields already in operation.
“Successfully identifying and developing new layers at mature fields helps increase production in areas where infrastructure is already in place,” said Dmitry Kolupayev, CEO of Gazpromneft-Khantos.
The company plans to expand the use of advanced technologies in future exploration efforts.
