Astra Group and Eleron Partner on Trusted Security Systems

Astra Group and JSC Federal Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety “SNPO Eleron” (Rosatom) have agreed to collaborate on trusted physical security solutions.

The companies, which have worked together for over a decade, plan to launch a secure IP camera and an integrated system based on Astra Linux Embedded for facility protection. Their technologies are already used in both defense and civilian sectors, including Rosatom infrastructure.

The agreement marks a notable shift for Russia’s IT and security markets. It signals the emergence of a domestic trusted technology stack for critical infrastructure – from operating systems to hardware. This reflects a move beyond replacing individual components toward building full integrated systems. Domestic solutions accounted for 41% of the segment in 2024 and may reach 69% by 2030, according to TAdviser.

The partnership supports a broader push toward sovereign infrastructure, where software and hardware are designed together. For Astra, this extends Astra Linux into embedded systems. The company also highlights export potential and its presence in CIS markets.

For citizens, the impact is indirect but clear – more reliable critical infrastructure in communications, transport and energy. For the country, the project strengthens technological independence, including in the nuclear sector.

Drivers of Adoption

The market is shifting toward integrated systems, with rising demand for trusted embedded platforms and stricter requirements for components used at critical facilities. This creates strong domestic demand. Likely use cases include critical information infrastructure, industrial sites, nuclear facilities, transport, energy and government security systems.

Export opportunities are likely in niche and project-based formats across CIS and other partner markets. These would typically involve large infrastructure projects and high-security installations. Astra’s existing export footprint and Rosatom’s global reputation in physical security add further momentum.

However, challenges remain. The key challenge is to prove the reliability of the full system. Success will depend on whether the partners can scale beyond pilot deployments to deliver a serial, certifiable product.

Entering the Scaling Phase

In 2024, Rosatom presented nuclear physical security solutions at the ICONS-2024 conference, showing a systematic approach to protecting critical assets. At the same time, Astra expanded its embedded and specialized solutions, strengthened partnerships with hardware vendors and improved integration across its ecosystem. By mid-2024, its platform supported more than 2,800 software and hardware products. The agreement with Eleron continues this shift toward trusted integrated systems.

According to TAdviser, Russia’s integrated systems market is scaling as import substitution accelerates and demand for deep integration grows. Domestic solutions accounted for 41% of sales in 2024 and may reach 69% by 2030, or grow from 18% to 45% by alternative estimates. In both cases, integrated systems are becoming the standard for critical infrastructure.

A Benchmark Case

The agreement is the next step toward full-cycle trusted systems for secure facilities. It builds on earlier work in component-level substitution and reflects a shift toward domestic technology platforms.

In the near term, the solutions will be deployed at high-security sites. New products based on Astra Linux Embedded will follow, along with expanded video surveillance and access control systems.

If the partners scale deployment successfully, the project could become a benchmark for Russia’s IT industry. The market will move from point solutions to comprehensive domestic platforms for sensitive sectors.

The agreement is a step toward creating integrated products where trusted software and hardware platforms are designed together. Among the first joint developments are a secure IP camera and a new-generation integrated system. We expect these solutions to be used at facilities with the highest security requirements
