Artificial intelligence will be used to monitor patients in the Novosibirsk region, with a pilot project launching in the intensive care unit of Clinical Hospital No. 34 in Novosibirsk, Narodnaya Gazeta reported.

According to Deputy Health Minister Alexander Kolupaev, the monitoring system will be connected to video surveillance cameras in patient rooms. AI will analyze patient behavior in real time based on predefined algorithms, for example detecting attempts to stand up or leave the room.

Activity Analysis and Treatment Adjustment

“The system independently collects statistics and generates reports. Video streams are processed on the medical institution’s server, ensuring that all data remain protected,” Kolupaev said.

The collected data will be used to analyze patient activity and adjust treatment strategies. The system is also expected to reduce the risk of injury and improve the efficiency of medical staff.

By 2028, all hospitals in the region are expected to operate under unified standards requiring the use of digital event tracking systems and video monitoring. An electronic event log will also be introduced.

“New solutions will be integrated with medical information systems. They will enable remote monitoring of patient conditions,” Kolupaev added.
