Every Third Developer in Russia Builds Apps With Neural Networks

Neural networks have gone mainstream in Russia’s IT sector, reshaping how software is created and tackling the industry’s talent gap.

More than a third of Russian developers are already using artificial intelligence to write code and build applications, according to a study by Avito and the tech portal Habr. Machine learning has evolved from a niche tool into a mass-market assistant for programmers, opening the door to what some describe as a technological revolution.

The report notes that an overwhelming majority of machine learning specialists—over 90 percent—actively use neural networks in their work, according to Izvestia. These systems handle routine tasks, drastically speeding up development and freeing up engineers to focus on more complex, creative challenges.

Konstantin Myagkikh, head of Data Science at Avito, says the role of the developer is changing: instead of working as a lone coder, they are becoming operators of an entire ecosystem of intelligent solutions. This shift not only boosts efficiency but also helps alleviate the acute shortage of skilled professionals in the sector.

Russia’s largest IT companies have already integrated AI into their workflows. Experts argue that the winners in the next phase of digital competition will be those who can safely embed AI at every stage of the development process.

In the coming years, neural networks are expected to become an indispensable tool for every programmer.
