Cyberattacks on Russian Online Retailers Triple in 2025

Hackers are increasingly targeting Russian e-commerce platforms, using advanced tactics to steal customer data and disrupt operations.

The number of cyberattacks on Russian online retailers surged in 2025. According to Solar Group, 87.4 million web-based attacks were recorded in the first half of the year alone—nearly three times more than during the same period in 2024.

Alexey Pashkov, head of the WAF division at Solar Group, reported that 98% of the attacks involved vulnerability scans of web applications—a 14% increase over last year. Hackers are probing for weak spots in cybersecurity defenses to disable websites or gain access to sensitive data belonging to users and businesses.

One growing trend is the concentration of attacks during nighttime hours, prompting retailers to maintain round-the-clock threat monitoring and fine-tune their cybersecurity systems accordingly.

In some cases, attackers are even embedding malware into smartphones during manufacturing or distribution, highlighting the increasingly sophisticated nature of modern cybercrime.
