Yandex Brings Music, Podcasts and Navigation Directly Into Changan Cars

Russian tech company Yandex has signed an agreement with Chinese automaker Changan Automobile to integrate its in-car platform, Yandex Auto, into new vehicles, with plans to expand the rollout across additional models.

Drivers will no longer need to pick up a smartphone or take their attention off the road to play a track or audiobook. Instead, the service is available directly on the car’s infotainment screen. That change is expected to make trips safer while also improving comfort for both drivers and passengers.

The first model to receive the integration is the new Changan UNI-S crossover, which has already launched in Russia. Built-in navigation runs on Yandex, while preinstalled services such as Yandex Music and Yandex Books are accessible through a single interface using Yandex ID. That unified design makes it easy to switch between music, audiobooks, and podcasts. The platform also retains a key feature of Yandex services, recommending content based on user preferences and listening history. Drivers can browse catalogs by genre, author, narrator, popularity, or new releases. They can also choose ready-made playlists or curated collections. Synchronization with Yandex ID allows users to resume playlists and audiobooks from where they left off.

More features are expected to be added to Yandex Auto over time. Meanwhile, access to familiar services could help adapt vehicles to customer expectations in Russia and other markets. In the near term, Changan models with Yandex Auto will be sold in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Moldova, and Georgia.

Yandex Ecosystem Moves Beyond the Smartphone

Installing Yandex services in popular vehicles marks a step toward making the company’s ecosystem part of everyday life beyond smartphones and smart speakers. In practice, this involves full integration of the Yandex Auto platform into onboard systems of foreign-made cars entering the Russian market.

The update is expected to find strong demand. In 2025 alone, 685,200 new Chinese passenger cars were sold in Russia. That scale could turn Yandex’s digital services into a built-in part of automotive electronics across CIS markets and neighboring countries. Adoption will also be supported by Changan’s growing presence. According to Autostat, the brand ranked among the top five Chinese carmakers in Russia in 2025. Yandex Auto has already partnered with other automakers, including GAC and HAVAL.

Working With Global Partners

The integration brings navigation, music, audiobooks, voice scenarios, and account synchronization directly into the in-car experience rather than relying on smartphone apps. For drivers, familiar services remain easy to access and continue to support everyday use, whether at home or on the road. They can switch between services seamlessly and control them through the dashboard display while driving.

At a national level, this rollout shows that Russian digital platforms can expand into adjacent industries such as automotive, where the share of Chinese vehicles has increased. Looking ahead, Yandex may expand both the platform’s functionality and the range of supported vehicle models. The geographic footprint could also grow. Beyond Russia, cars equipped with Yandex Auto will be sold in nine additional post-Soviet markets, with potential for further expansion. The agreement with Changan highlights how a domestic digital ecosystem can scale internationally through partnerships with global manufacturers.

For Changan, this international partnership with Yandex Auto is an important step in advancing both technology and the digital ecosystem of our vehicles. We are focusing on driver convenience and plan to gradually expand integration across new Changan models to deliver an intuitive, advanced, and safe user experience.
