Russia’s homegrown messenger MAX has introduced a new feature that warns users about incoming calls from unknown numbers, the platform’s press service said.

To activate the feature, users need to update the app. After that, a “Not in Contacts” label will appear on the screen whenever a call comes in from an unfamiliar number.

“If the caller is not from Russia, the screen will also show the region where the call is coming from,” the press service added.

More Features Ahead

Earlier, IT Russia reported that the number of digital ID use cases in the MAX messenger is set to expand in 2026. According to the platform’s developer, users will be able to verify eligibility for benefits and receive discounts.

In the future, MAX’s digital ID is expected to allow Russians to confirm their identity on airplanes, trains, and buses, and even check into hotels.
