Moscow Region Showcases Its Experience in Digitizing Energy Infrastructure
The region’s digital initiatives received high marks from participants at Russian Energy Week 2026.
Moscow Region presented its experience in digitizing energy infrastructure at Russian Energy Week 2026. Regional specialists received positive feedback from industry experts for their work.
Many of the region’s solutions are built on the Engineering Networks geographic information system (GIS) platform. It brings together data on heating, electricity, and gas networks, as well as water supply and wastewater systems. This gives specialists a comprehensive view of infrastructure conditions, allows them to model potential emergencies, and helps them use the data to plan upgrades.
During the 2026–2027 heating season, the region used a digital twin for the first time to monitor heat delivery end to end – from starting up a boiler house to the supply of heating water to an apartment building. Instrument readings allow operators to track system temperature and pressure, detect deviations, and identify areas that require professionals’ attention.
