MTS Expands AI Team to Capture 10% of Market by 2028
Russia’s largest telecom holding is betting big on artificial intelligence, aiming to more than double revenues by the end of the decade.
MTS has announced a large-scale hiring campaign for artificial intelligence specialists. The move supports its ambitious target: capturing 10% of Russia’s AI market by 2028. The plan was presented by Denis Filippov, CEO of MWS AI.
MWS AI, part of the MTS Group, is rapidly growing its AI expertise as part of its long-term growth strategy. The unit responsible is MWS AI (MTS Web Services), which develops advanced AI-driven solutions for Russia’s corporate sector.
The strategy sets a mid-term milestone: by 2028, the company expects to generate external revenues of 11 billion rubles (approx. $131 million). For comparison, the figure in 2024 was 4.27 billion rubles (approx. $51 million). Growth will hinge on the company’s core product: comprehensive AI transformation for large corporations.
MTS’s announcement highlights the immense potential of the Russian AI market. According to the company’s forecast, the market for software and IT services will reach 50 billion rubles (approx. $597 million) in 2025 and exceed 155 billion rubles (approx. $1.85 billion) by 2029. Success for MWS AI would be a major indicator of the technological maturity of Russian business and would confirm the demand for world-class domestic AI solutions.
