The Russian Ministry of Energy plans to conduct training involving controlled cyberattacks at 500 companies in the fuel and energy sector by 2035, said Felix Mitskevich, director of the ministry's Digital Transformation Department.

According to Mitskevich, the ability to repel cyberattacks is vital for companies, as a single successful breach can allow attackers to cause hundreds of millions of rubles in damage.

The ministry carried out a pilot version of the project in Tatarstan last year, selecting several companies for the exercise. Controlled cyberattacks were conducted to identify vulnerabilities in their infrastructure. The ministry's main objective is to synchronize digitalization and information security processes.

"Digitalization is moving upward, while information security is moving downward. Bringing them into alignment is quite difficult," Mitskevich added.
