Not Just Reactors: Rosatom’s Digital Ecosystem, Services, and Data Centers

When building a modern nuclear power plant, Rosatom is no longer limited to reactor engineering. The state corporation delivers a full digital package—from automation systems and nearby data centers to infrastructure that supports the daily lives of specialists and residents in satellite towns. This approach turns the plant into not just an energy source, but also a hub of digital services.

Comprehensive Support for NPP Construction

Rosatom offers its customers a unified digital project constructor: an integrated information management system for construction, turnkey process control systems (PCS/ASUTP), and ready-to-use IT platforms.

All processes—from project documentation to supply chain logistics—run through a single digital track. Previously, much of this relied on foreign platforms. Today, Rosatom deploys Russian-made solutions and is prepared to use them widely at export projects.

Data Centers at Nuclear Plant Sites: A New Practice

One of Rosatom’s innovations is the construction of data centers (DCs) near nuclear plants. These provide local computing power for management systems, data storage, and analytics—including virtualization and machine learning technologies.

Local data centers reduce latency, enhance resilience, and strengthen the facility’s digital security. For business, they also make economic sense: with rising demand for computing, DCs are becoming valuable assets. Several such projects have already begun, including the large-scale “Innopolis” data center, with plans for another in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

We provide customers with an integrated information management system for construction projects, as well as turnkey process control systems complete with IT hardware and infrastructure. In the past, much of this depended on foreign platforms, but under current conditions we are moving to maximize the use of domestic solutions. These solutions are now ready for standard deployment, and we are confident they will be of great interest to our partners

Infrastructure for Life: Digital Clusters at NPPs

A nuclear plant is not just equipment but also a community: engineers, their families, service providers, contractors, and suppliers. Rosatom integrates digital services for education, healthcare, utilities management, and leisure directly into the project.

Through a single digital platform, residents of nuclear towns gain access to online education, telemedicine, electronic government services, and leisure applications. This not only makes these towns more attractive for living but also eases specialists’ adaptation when relocating to a new site. Technologies tested in nuclear settlements are then replicated across other industries.

Export Potential and Scaling

The “plant + local data center + digital ecosystem” model can be scaled and exported. Alongside reactor equipment, Rosatom offers digital packages, lifecycle services, and staff training—forming a strong competitive advantage in international markets.

Several projects are already delivered on a turnkey basis: PCS supply, IT equipment installation, and data center commissioning backed by service contracts. Rosatom is expanding the traditional nuclear power project into a digital cluster that combines computational platforms with both cloud and local infrastructure for life.
