A new AI-powered system for preparing surgical documentation has been successfully tested at the Kaliningrad City Emergency Hospital.

During the pilot, a hospital surgeon dictated the operative report aloud while a neural network transcribed the speech in real time and produced a completed protocol. The document was then automatically uploaded to the medical information system BARS.

According to Kaliningrad Region Health Minister Sergei Dmitriev, the technology is designed to reduce administrative burdens so doctors can devote more time to patients. The system is expected to launch first in the hospital’s emergency intake department.

The Doctor Dictates, the Algorithm Fills In

A similar AI assistant has been deployed at a polyclinic in Belgorod. The service, LazyDoc, saves physicians time on paperwork by recording conversations between doctors and patients.

The doctor dictates patient complaints, medical history, and examination results, and the algorithm transcribes the speech in real time, organizes the information, and generates a draft electronic medical record. The physician reviews the data and applies a digital signature.
