NtechLab AI to Scan Roads in Yamal for Wanted Vehicles

An artificial intelligence system developed by NtechLab, a technology partner of Rostec, will be used to detect vehicles in traffic that are wanted, reported stolen, or linked to hit-and-run incidents. The system can identify a target vehicle in fractions of a second.

Video analytics algorithms process footage from cameras installed on major roads in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The AI identifies vehicles by license plate, model, and color, then cross-checks them against law enforcement databases.

“In 2023, we deployed our flagship solution Find Face Multi (AI video analytics platform) in Yamal. It allows regional law enforcement to locate suspects and missing persons by analyzing video streams from urban cameras. The system is already used on main city streets, public squares, and transport hubs. We have now expanded its use to road infrastructure and key shopping centers, and we plan to continue developing and strengthening our cooperation with the region,” said Alexey Palamarchuk, CEO of NtechLab.

Ilya Lyan, head of the regional security department in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, said that about 2,000 city cameras are currently connected to the AI-powered video analytics system, with the neural network also deployed on 20 road cameras.

“We expect that using AI on roads will not only help locate offenders more quickly, but also deter crimes such as hit-and-run incidents or car theft – at the very least because perpetrators will know they can be identified within seconds,” he added.
