Russia Deploys Robots for Nighttime Industrial Security

Armed with cameras and AI, autonomous patrol units can guard facilities 24/7 and instantly alert human operators to potential threats.

Artificial intelligence and robotics are reshaping how industrial facilities are secured in Russia. One example of this transformation is the “Tral Patrol” mobile security robot, developed by SMP Robotics.

Designed to operate autonomously, the robot can patrol industrial sites around the clock, cutting operational costs while maintaining a high level of safety. Equipped with six panoramic cameras and an infrared sensor, it monitors perimeters even in total darkness. If it detects a suspicious person or activity, the system immediately sends an alert to security personnel.

Robots on the Job

Across Russia, robots are increasingly taking on roles once reserved for humans—boosting productivity in factories, managing cargo logistics, and even sorting waste and medical samples.

Tech giant Yandex is also accelerating this shift: by 2027, the company plans to deploy 20,000 delivery robots across Russian cities. Within two years, it expects one in ten deliveries nationwide to be handled by robots, with mass production reaching 1,300 units per month.

From security patrols to last-mile logistics, the age of tireless robotic workers is no longer science fiction—it’s already clocking in for the night shift.
