AI Will Tell the Story of Tatarstan’s Great Poet

In Kazan, a film about the life and work of Gabdulla Tukay is being created using artificial intelligence.

A film about the life and legacy of Gabdulla Tukay is set to premiere in Kazan, created with the help of artificial intelligence technologies. The film will become a key element of a new guided route, “Addresses of the Soul. Tukay,” at the Karim Tinchurin Tatar State Drama and Comedy Theatre.

Audiences will see a 50-minute film whose visual imagery was generated by neural networks. A distinctive feature of the presentation will be “live dubbing”: theatre actors will voice the film on stage in real time, accompanied by a live orchestra. The screenplay is based on Tukay’s autobiographical work, “What I Remember About Myself.”

Music, History, and Digital Technology

The project is рассчитed to run for at least a year, with guided tours planned several times a week. The film’s visual component is being developed by AI specialist Alsu Khaibrieva, who emphasizes the project’s importance for preserving cultural identity.

Gabdulla Tukay is regarded as the founder of modern Tatar literature and national poetry, as well as a publicist and translator. He left behind a vast legacy of hundreds of poems, longer works, and translations. The project once again demonstrates how the combination of digital technologies, theatre, and museum practice can become a powerful tool for bringing history to life.
