CICADA8 CyberRating Platform Adds a “Risk Map”
The update allows companies to assess in greater detail the threats facing their contractors.

Russian cybersecurity companies continue to expand tools that help customers identify risks when working with business partners. In recent years, hackers have increasingly sought to penetrate corporate infrastructure through third parties.
Identifies Specific Weaknesses
CICADA8’s work to expand the functionality of its CICADA8 CyberRating platform is aimed at addressing this problem. The platform is designed to identify threats associated with contractors and now includes Karta riskov (Risk Map). The tool does more than establish whether vulnerabilities exist: it points to specific weaknesses in a contractor’s digital environment.
According to the developers, Karta riskov consists of three elements. The first is the classification of identified deficiencies by risk level: high, medium and low. The second is a threat profile presented as a radar chart. It can visualize risks across selected areas, including CVEs, data leaks, asset reputation, DNS and other parameters. The third is a dynamic list of threats that shows the specific types and number of deficiencies identified for each area.

A Tool for Large Enterprises
The result is a structured list of potential problems affecting a customer’s partner. CICADA8 CyberRating is positioned primarily as a solution for large companies that simultaneously work with dozens of contractors. Their security perimeters are constantly changing, and even a highly skilled team of experts cannot physically track every adjustment. CICADA8 CyberRating automates this process by monitoring specified parameters and notifying the customer whenever they change. Users can also set their own threshold for acceptable fluctuations. Separate alerts are issued when incidents occur or a contractor is compromised.
More Detailed Metrics
Another change coming to CICADA8 CyberRating is more granular cybersecurity metrics. Each indicator is described using quantitative characteristics, allowing risks to be assessed in greater detail.
“In the vulnerabilities section, the platform shows how deficiencies are distributed by severity, the number of management interfaces and application security issues. The leaks section shows the number of compromised accounts. The network section provides a quantitative assessment of low-reputation assets and identified DNS configuration problems,” the developers said.
The latest update demonstrates the rapid evolution of CICADA8 CyberRating, which launched in June last year. It initially served as a basic scoring tool. The software is now evolving into a more comprehensive product designed to protect a company’s digital environment against unauthorized intrusion.

One in Three Attacks Comes Through a Trusted Network
CICADA8 CyberRating’s value for Russia’s cybersecurity market is clear. According to Kaspersky Lab, about 35% of companies were attacked through their contractors last year. Hackers seek to breach organizations through smaller businesses that lack the resources to build multilayered defenses.
Another advantage of the platform is that its development can continue independently using the developers’ own resources. CICADA8 is included in the Unified Register of Russian Software, which means the company can participate in government procurement tenders.
The Russian-developed platform is also finding demand abroad. In June 2026, CICADA8 announced its entry into the Indonesian market together with local systems integrator Walden Global Services. The CyberRating platform was also included among the products the company plans to offer in Indonesia.

It is now possible to say that a new segment of services is emerging in Russia’s cybersecurity market, focused on assessing contractor risks. Such platforms as CICADA8 CyberRating are likely to become a standard tool for large companies that work with a large number of contractors.
