Rubytech’s Calculator Factors in the Hidden Benefits

Rubytech Group has launched a public calculator for estimating the total cost of deploying its Skala^r hardware-software system. The calculation factors in not only acquisition and ownership costs, but also tax incentives available for purchases of Russian hardware and software.

Customers, whether businesses or government organizations, want to understand the actual return on investments in IT infrastructure, which can be particularly costly during a complete modernization. Rubytech’s calculator is designed to answer precisely that question.

Transparent Economics

The calculator estimates the cost of owning IT infrastructure across the nuances of its entire lifecycle, from acquisition to retirement. Customers see not only capital expenditures (CAPEX), but operating expenses (OPEX) as well. The former can be recouped faster through tax incentives that reduce corporate income tax and allow the cost of a Russian hardware-software system to be recognized for tax purposes two to three times faster. The latter are reduced through Skala^r’s vertical integration, which lowers spending on technical support and upgrades.

Skala^r is a modular platform for high-load information systems used by large businesses and government organizations. Such customers place exceptionally stringent demands on their IT infrastructure. “It has to deliver the highest possible performance, reliability and fault tolerance, while also providing the highest possible level of security. At the same time, organizations expect strong economic efficiency and rapid deployment because their IT budgets are enormous,” said Igor Vedyokhin, CEO of Rubytech Group.

The calculator enables prospective customers to assess the economics of deploying a Russian technology stack and build a business case for modernizing their company’s IT landscape.

TCO Calculators as a Mandatory Standard

Such calculators are most in demand in sectors with large infrastructure estates: banking, retail, oil and gas, manufacturing and government. There, even a 10% to 15% reduction in operating costs can have a substantial impact at the scale of an IT budget. This is a mature market that requires more than import substitution for the sake of technological independence – it also demands economic efficiency across a combination of factors, including performance, reliability and total cost of ownership. The use of TCO, or Total Cost of Ownership, calculators in feasibility studies and procurement processes could become a mandatory standard. Factoring in regional and industry-specific incentives makes estimates more accurate for individual customers.

Demand for Precise Cost Estimates

Several years ago, demand in the Russian market shifted from piecemeal replacement of individual IT components toward integrated infrastructure products. For one thing, this is driving the development of Russia’s hardware-software systems sector. For another, it is fueling interest in public online calculators that can estimate the full cost of modernizing a company’s IT landscape.

The tool introduced by Rubytech Group is not the first on the market. In August 2025, Berkut launched a TCO calculator for comparing vendor proposals and calculating ROI, allowing customers to assess the payback of IT products. In November of that year, K2 Cloud rolled out a tool for comparing the economics of owning on-premises IT infrastructure with infrastructure deployed in the cloud over a five-year period.

Rubytech, however, has gone further by adapting its calculator to tax conditions and regulatory parameters, improving the accuracy of its estimates.

Strategic Takeaways and the Adoption Horizon

The emergence of TCO calculators confirms that Russia’s enterprise infrastructure market is moving beyond the logic of import substitution toward the economics of ownership. Businesses need tools that can measure the efficiency of a technology stack throughout its lifecycle. In the near term, that means demand is likely to grow for solutions that bring technical specifications, tax incentives and operating metrics together in a single model.

Solutions that can be customized for industry-specific and regional conditions are likely to see the strongest demand. The IT industry will continue developing economic modeling platforms integrated with Russian software registries and tax calculators. These tools are becoming part of a systematic approach to IT asset management built around transparency, adaptability, regulatory compliance and digital sovereignty.

We see a tangible difference in operating costs between infrastructure assembled from disparate components and integrated systems where compatibility is handled by the vendor. The calculator shows how tax incentives and lower operating expenses, including the 25% tax effect from using the Skala^r hardware-software system, turn a Russian hardware-software system into a powerful financial lever
