AI-Powered Farm Equipment Could Cut Food Prices in Russia by 15% in One Year

New smart machinery is transforming Russian agriculture, offering not just higher efficiency but also cheaper groceries.

Advanced IT solutions are reshaping Russia’s agricultural sector—solving not only food production issues but also labor shortages and rural economic challenges. According to Olga Uskova, CEO of Cognitive Technologies, which develops AI-driven autonomous farming machines, smart robots dramatically outperform humans in precision and productivity.

Unlike human workers, agricultural robots can operate continuously, a key advantage during narrow windows of favorable weather. These machines never tire and deliver consistent quality. Research by the InterAgroTech Association indicates that automation boosts farm efficiency by 30–35% and pays off quickly. Uskova adds that Russia is already producing cost-effective mini-tractors without cabs or the need for drivers. These nimble robotic tractors can be up to 10 times more efficient than traditional models.

AI is being rolled out across Russian farmland, with southern regions currently leading the way. The next big frontier: deploying agrobots in Siberia and the Far East. The push for digital agriculture is also expected to affect consumer prices. Experts estimate that robotic technologies will drive down food costs in Russia by 15% as soon as 2026.
