Rosatom has begun pilot production on two lines at a new radiopharmaceutical plant equipped with world-class technology. The facility is being built in the Kaluga Region.

“We will be able to meet nearly all of the country’s healthcare demand, which is expected to reach about 1.5 million procedures by the end of the decade. As a manufacturer, Rosatom is creating a reliable supply and technology base that will allow medical organizations to expand access to radionuclide therapy and diagnostics to hundreds of thousands of patients a year,” said Pavel Zaytsev, CEO of Rosatom Science.

The plant uses Russian-made automated synthesis modules capable of producing large quantities of drugs simultaneously. Its capacity is designed for at least 100 vials per work shift. Automation makes each production batch reproducible, minimizes the impact of human error, ensures the sterility of the finished product and allows synthesis protocols to be modified to produce promising new radiopharmaceuticals.
