Russian Company ELAR Nears Completion of Major Archive Digitization Project in Irkutsk

Using advanced scanning systems and AI algorithms, ELAR is bringing over 120,000 paper records into a secure digital ecosystem.

Russian tech company ELAR is wrapping up a large-scale effort to digitize the archives of the Technical Inventory Bureau (BTI) in the Irkutsk region, according to CNews.

Working in partnership with the Regional Center for State Cadastral Valuation of Real Estate, the company has already digitized more than 100,000 inventory records. This shift has significantly improved data accessibility and agency efficiency. A third phase will cover an additional 23,000 documents, finalizing the bureau’s full transition to digital archives.

Digitization is far more than just scanning paper files—it’s a complex technical process that demands specialized hardware and expert knowledge. ELAR uses a fleet of 350 professional-grade scanners, including both planetary and high-speed models, along with 12 proprietary AI algorithms to ensure top-tier accuracy. Beyond digitization, the firm offers long-term storage solutions such as disaster-resistant optical media capable of preserving information unaltered for over 50 years.
