Russian Farmers to Receive Subsidies for Agricultural Innovation

Vologda region is channeling over $18,750 into agri-robots and digital farming tools as part of a push to modernize agriculture.

In Russia’s Vologda region, local agricultural producers are set to receive 1.5 million rubles (about $18,750) in subsidies to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies, according to Moskovsky Komsomolets.

The program will cover up to 90 percent of research and development costs for projects that drive the digital transformation of agriculture. This year, two initiatives secured funding.

One focuses on developing software to manage a mobile agricultural robot — a system designed to automate crop production and improve farm efficiency.

Regional officials say the effort will strengthen Vologda’s position as one of Russia’s leaders in agri-tech. Longer term, the projects could be scaled to other parts of the country.
