A Russian university is set to work with Chinese specialists on deploying artificial intelligence in urban environments, according to the press service of Novosibirsk State University.

The university operates a Research Center for Artificial Intelligence that conducts fundamental research, trains IT specialists, and develops smart city technologies.

During a visit to China, staff from the center signed a cooperation agreement with the Shenzhen Association of New Energy Manufacturers. The association brings together around 300 developer companies and focuses on promoting and advancing innovation.

Joint Forum and Smart Campus

As noted by Alexander Lyulko, director of NSU’s AI Research Center, the region hosts hundreds of high-tech companies, and cooperation with them will be highly beneficial for the university. Chinese specialists, he said, have also shown strong interest in the work of their Russian counterparts, with joint projects already under discussion.

“We are also negotiating an expanded exchange of experience, including the organization of a special Russian-Chinese forum on artificial intelligence technologies, which could take place at NSU as early as this year. We are also discussing cooperation with Shenzhen universities on developing a ‘smart campus,’” Lyulko said.
