Russian Industry Shifts to Domestic Engineering Software as Market Grows 20%

At a recent conference in Moscow, major Russian companies outlined how they are replacing foreign engineering software with homegrown tools.

The TIMI-2025 practical conference on Information Modeling and Engineering Technologies came to an end in Moscow with participation from major industrial sectors, including energy, construction, and mining.

Speakers discussed their experiences transitioning to Russian-made software. Stepan Vorobyov, Head of Implementation at CSoft Development, highlighted platforms like TIM Model Studio CS, CADLib, and Xlib, which cover the full lifecycle of construction projects—from design to commissioning.

In June 2025, Model Studio CS successfully passed compatibility tests with the Astra Linux Special Edition operating system and the Tantor SE database. These tools are already in use at leading companies. For example, Gazprom Projecting has been exclusively using CSoft and Nanosoft software for all site-based projects since July 2023, while Rosneft’s R&D Center employs Model Studio CS in tandem with 3D modeling and laser scanning.

By the end of 2024, Russia’s engineering software market had grown 20% to 50 billion rubles. That number is expected to reach 74 billion by 2030. Alexander Belkin, Deputy Head of Development at CSoft Group, emphasized that Russian businesses are showing strong readiness to adopt domestic IT tools—signaling a national shift toward technological sovereignty.
