Russian Utilities Turn to AI and Cloud Tech for Modernization Push

Uralenergosbyt and Rostelecom partner to digitize Russia’s energy and housing infrastructure using advanced IT tools.

Russian companies Uralenergosbyt and Rostelecom have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating digital transformation in the energy and utilities sector. The partnership focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, cloud services, and upgraded IT infrastructure to improve operational efficiency, according to BigpowerNews.

The deal was signed at the Innoprom 2025 exhibition in Yekaterinburg. The two companies plan to develop joint projects including secure communication systems, data management platforms, and customer-facing digital services.

One flagship initiative is the 'Prodialog' system, which enables remote video, voice, and text consultations for consumers. By reducing the need for physical branch offices, it allows service access via internet-connected kiosks.

'We're committed to import substitution and securing critical infrastructure,' said Andrey Svyatykh, First Deputy General Director of Uralenergosbyt.

Based in the Chelyabinsk region, Uralenergosbyt already serves 2 million customers with digital tools. Together with Rostelecom, the company plans to scale up the use of AI and business intelligence analytics to modernize Russia’s energy and housing services.
