Russian Developers Compete for $18,750 Prize in MORE.Tech Hackathon

The annual competition challenges coders and IT specialists to tackle real-world tech problems, with winners gaining both funding and industry exposure.

Registration is now open for Russia’s MORE.Tech hackathon, inviting developers, analysts, and IT professionals to compete for a prize pool of 1.5 million rubles (about $18,750). The top team will take home 250,000 rubles, while others get the chance to secure funding for promising solutions. The hybrid-format event will run from August 27 to September 20.

Participants will face three hands-on challenges: designing a tool for SQL query analysis, building a low-code app to manage employee schedules, or creating an AI assistant for voice-based candidate screening.

The event is organized by VTB, one of Russia’s largest banks, which emphasizes that the hackathon is not just about the money but also about tackling real-world cases, learning from industry experts, and networking with peers.

MORE.Tech is part of a broader series of IT competitions that attract thousands of participants every year. In 2023, the combined prize pool exceeded 4.7 million rubles, and winning projects have since moved forward into real-world tech applications.
