Russian Regions Actively Deploy AI to Search for Missing Persons and Criminals

Nalchik becomes one of the first cities in the North Caucasus to introduce a domestic video analytics system.

In Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria, advanced artificial intelligence technologies developed domestically are being deployed to enhance public safety. A system created by NtechLab has been integrated into the “Safe Republic” (Safe Republic) complex in Nalchik. It analyzes video streams from city cameras to identify missing persons and criminal suspects.

Facial and Silhouette Recognition

The algorithm processes images from cameras installed on streets and in parks. Within fractions of a second, the system can detect a wanted individual in the video stream. The accuracy of facial and silhouette recognition exceeds 99.9 percent.

According to Adam Kagazezhev, acting head of the Bezopasnaya Respublika state agency, the system is expected to evolve into a unified intelligent complex capable not only of recording incidents but also of preventing them.

NtechLab Expands Nationwide

NtechLab’s solution is already operating successfully in many major Russian regions, from the Nizhny Novgorod Region to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, underscoring its effectiveness.

“In 2026, we plan to expand coverage. The use of our solutions in other cities of Kabardino-Balkaria is also under discussion,” said NtechLab chief executive Alexey Palamarchuk.

The region is also planning to introduce AI technologies for traffic control and environmental monitoring.
