Russian Students Build an App to Unite Eco-Volunteers Nationwide
A new platform connects people eager to improve their communities—helping them find, join, and track local environmental and social projects.

Students from Kuban State Technological University, guided by sociology lecturer Natalia Khlabystova, have developed a mobile app called Volunteering: Creating Sustainable Solutions for Ecology and Society. The digital platform brings together volunteers who want to make their cities cleaner, greener, and more socially supportive.
Within the app, users can browse environmental and social initiatives—from park cleanups and tree planting to helping animal shelters and senior care homes. They can select an activity, register to participate, and receive notifications about event times and locations.
One of the developers’ upcoming features is a rewards system that turns volunteer work into a game-like experience. Participants earn bonus points for their contributions, which can later be exchanged for prizes or tickets to cultural events.
The project team plans to expand the app across Russia, creating a nationwide volunteer network that fosters environmental responsibility and community engagement through technology.
