Digital Ecosystems Bring Smart Living to Russian Apartment Buildings

In Irkutsk Region, a locally developed AI-powered platform is making residential buildings more connected and convenient.

Russia is rapidly adopting digital ecosystems, and Irkutsk Region offers a telling example. There, regional authorities, developers, and a telecom operator have joined forces to expand digital infrastructure in multi-unit residential buildings.

One such system, called 'Key,' now serves more than 70 percent of new buildings in the region. True to its name, the platform offers turnkey control of an entire property. It integrates intercoms, barriers, video surveillance, utility meters, and other smart systems—all powered by adaptive artificial intelligence. The neural network recognizes residents by face, can unlock doors, and even send the elevator to the correct floor.

'Key' is a 100-percent Russian-developed solution and is listed in the Ministry of Digital Development’s official registry of domestic software.
