Russian AI Tech to Boost Diamond Mining Efficiency

Russian tech giant Sber is bringing its artificial intelligence and IT expertise to the diamond industry. At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Sber signed an agreement with Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond producer, to implement advanced technologies including video analytics, image recognition, and automated visual data interpretation. These tools aim to make diamond detection more efficient and reduce the role of human error in this high-stakes field.

Beyond raw extraction, Alrosa plans to expand its use of digital tools to enhance production workflows, logistics, and administrative operations. According to both parties, the partnership could become a catalyst for modernizing Russia’s mining sector—driving innovation, improving performance, and strengthening the industry’s technological sovereignty.
