Russian Railways Plans to Build 20 Digital Rail Stations
The stations will make extensive use of artificial intelligence.

Over the next several years, Russian Railways plans to create 20 digital rail stations incorporating AI technology, Deputy CEO Sergey Kobzev said.
Russian Railways is currently completing tests of the Tsentr avtomatizatsii manevrovoy raboty (Shunting Operations Automation Center) at the Chelyabinsk-Glavny classification yard. In effect, the center serves as the brain of the station’s digital infrastructure, managing train movements within the rail hub.
The company expects the project to deliver two key results. The first is more reliable freight operations and lower costs. Employee working conditions are another important goal: digitization is expected to significantly reduce the amount of heavy manual labor.
