Russian Students Learn to Code Artificial Intelligence

At a specialized training center, teenagers are already building prototypes of AI-powered assistants and training text classifiers.

In Russia’s Primorye region, high school students took part in a program at the Sirius regional center that focused on natural language programming for artificial intelligence. The course, “Artificial Intelligence—Project Management for Companies,” tasked students with developing a prototype financial assistant and training a text classifier. For the latter, they prepared datasets and worked on improving performance metrics.

Students also learned about the safe application of AI through mini-sprints, code reviews, and mentorship sessions.

Similar programs are being rolled out nationwide. Recently, the first round launched for a new “Artificial Intelligence” track within the National Technology Olympiad, organized in partnership with the Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Sberbank’s charitable foundation “Contribution to the Future.”

The program includes three stages, an AI-focused bootcamp, and a machine learning hackathon where participants will classify cosmic objects using artificial intelligence.
