Russian developer Astra Group has introduced a new solution designed to protect data in virtual environments, the company’s press service said.

The company has integrated the server virtualization platform VMmanager (server virtualization platform) with the backup system RuBackup (backup system). RuBackup is designed to protect data across infrastructures of any scale. According to the company, the system supports “all the functionality required to safeguard data on a virtual platform, including efficient deduplication, fault tolerance, and integration with tape libraries.”

VMmanager (server virtualization platform) acts as the foundation of the digital environment, combining servers and storage systems into a cluster. The two platforms now operate together, making data protection a built-in function of the virtual environment. Users gain ready-to-use backup scenarios that do not require complex configuration.

According to Andrey Kuznetsov, CEO of RuBackup, the market had been waiting for a proven solution to protect virtual environments that customers would not have to assemble themselves from separate components.

“The RuBackup–VMmanager bundle removes integration risks for customers, shortens deployment time, and ensures that backups are created correctly and that recovery will work as expected in the event of a failure,” he said.

Both products are listed in the Registry of Domestic Software maintained by the Ministry of Digital Development.
