Russia’s Mail Cloud Adds AI-Powered Photo Deduplication Tool

A new feature uses artificial intelligence to detect and remove duplicate photos, streamlining digital storage for millions of users.
Russian cloud service Mail Cloud has introduced a smart duplicate detection tool designed to declutter photo storage. The AI-based feature scans users’ image libraries to identify redundant pictures and suggests which ones can be safely deleted. According to company representatives, the system automatically detects duplicates and recommends optimizing cloud storage.
All identified duplicates are grouped under a new 'Duplicates' section within the Albums tab. The AI even evaluates image quality—selecting the best shots based on clarity, brightness, and sharpness—and highlights them with a star. With a single tap, users can keep the recommended photo and delete the rest.
The system updates regularly and is currently available on mobile platforms through the Mail Space subscription. Analysts say the new feature not only improves photo management, but also underscores Russia’s leadership in data processing and machine learning technologies.
