Russian University to Train IT Specialists on Domestic Software Platforms

Astra Group and the State University of Education Join Forces to Prepare the Next Generation of Digital Engineers

Russia’s State University of Education and Astra Group have announced a partnership to train future IT professionals using the Astra Linux operating system — a flagship of Russia’s domestic software ecosystem.

Under the agreement, Astra Group will install its operating system on 100 university computers and provide hands-on training for both faculty and students. A new “Astra Lab” will also open on campus, offering specialized courses focused on the company’s key products and real-world use cases. The initiative aims to give students in-demand technical skills directly aligned with the needs of the digital economy.

Collaboration Built on Russian Software

Andrey Soldatov, Director of Regional Sales at Astra Group, highlighted the long-term vision behind the collaboration:

“Building the learning process on our company’s software products will help educators strengthen their IT qualifications and enable students to gain practical experience with Russian-made digital solutions that are already shaping the market.”

Alexey Lukyanovich, Vice Rector for Digital Development and IT at the State University of Education, added that the partnership will allow students to bridge theory and practice from day one — working directly with advanced domestic technologies.

Astra Linux, developed entirely in Russia, is already widely deployed across industry, education, and government services. The new program underscores a broader national push to train specialists capable of maintaining technological independence and advancing the country’s growing digital infrastructure.
