A smart search tool for scientific resources has been launched at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the university’s press service said. The system, called NEOPoisk (NeoSearch), integrates all subscription-based resources of the institute as well as open-access databases in Russian and English. Users only need to enter a query in a single search window for the system to begin analyzing the content of articles, patents, and dissertations.

The search engine integrates resources from the Russian Electronic Library System, repositories of universities in Russia and Belarus, collections from the National Center for Scientific Information, the CyberLeninka digital library, as well as patents and dissertation abstracts. According to the university, NEOPoisk functions as a full analytical tool based on semantic, exploratory, and cross-language analysis.

Analytical Tool

In addition to smart search with flexible filters, the technology organizes content according to classification standards and nomenclatures and generates a keyword cloud for each query. It can also visually display the distribution of search results by year, author, journal, and dissertation defense location. Users can create their own collections of materials and save search queries within the service. In the near future, NEOPoisk will be integrated into the electronic library catalog of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The new tool for research and education is available to all registered users worldwide.
