Samara Researchers Create Digital Twin of Spacecraft

Researchers at Samara State Technical University have developed a comprehensive digital model of the Aist-2T small spacecraft for the Progress Rocket and Space Center. Validation tests confirmed the model's high degree of accuracy.

The work was carried out at the university's Integrated Multidisciplinary Modeling Center within the Department of Mechanics. Using the digital twin, researchers calculated temperature distributions, structural deformations, and the performance characteristics of optical and electronic systems under spaceflight conditions. The simulation results were then compared with data from thermal-vacuum tests conducted at Progress Rocket and Space Center facilities, with the two sets of results matching at key points throughout the spacecraft's structure.

Anton Yeremin, vice rector for research at Samara State Technical University, highlighted the project's practical value. According to him, cooperation between the university and Progress Rocket and Space Center makes it possible to develop and validate domestic digital models of complex engineering systems, while the results can be applied to the design of future spacecraft. The project findings were presented by Yakov Klebanov, head of the university's Department of Mechanics.
