Sberbank Launches Murmansk Region Resident Card for Children
Sberbank has expanded the functionality of the Murmansk Region’s Edinaya karta zhitelya (Unified Resident Card), or EKZh, making it available to children ages 6 to 14. Previously, the card was available only from age 14.
The children’s EKZh will help families save on transportation, offering a 50% discount on city routes and 60% on suburban routes. The card also serves as both an ID and a payment tool: children can use it to pass through school access-control systems and pay for meals. Parents can add money to their child’s account remotely or allow school lunches to be paid for directly from the card balance.
There are two ways to get the card. To obtain a new one, a child’s representative must visit a bank branch with a passport, the child’s birth certificate and SNILS individual insurance account number. The card is issued free of charge and takes no more than eight business days. If the child already has a SberKarta Mir children’s card, it can be linked to the EKZh through the SberBank Online app or at a bank branch.
