AI assistant Alexandra expands support for navigating Moscow’s transport system

Neural networks process 53% of the virtual assistant’s knowledge base.

An AI-powered chatbot called Alexandra has begun answering questions about ground transport, trams, and personal mobility services in Moscow, city transport officials said.

According to the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, the virtual assistant now handles a wider range of transport-related queries using artificial intelligence.

“Since the start of 2025, the AI-powered assistant has answered around 460,000 user questions using neural networks”, said Maksim Liksutov, Moscow’s deputy mayor for transport and industry. “Alexandra is described as the country’s first transport assistant built on two large language models. A rating-based evaluation system selects the most relevant and accurate response for each query”, he added.

Neural networks handle most of the knowledge base

More than half of Alexandra’s knowledge base is processed by neural networks. The built-in AI can identify the intent even behind unusually phrased questions. The assistant is able to maintain coherent dialogue, retain conversational context, and remember previous user requests. The system is self-learning and improves its accuracy with each interaction.

Using neural networks, the virtual consultant provides information on the metro, the Moscow Central Ring, the Moscow Central Diameters, suburban trains, the Aeroexpress airport service, taxis, car sharing, and scheduled river transport. Alexandra also answers questions in an informal tone about road conditions, advertising placement, navigation, and passenger services, and can even share its favourite books and interests.
