Sverdlovsk Region Considers AI to Improve School Safety

Sverdlovsk region’s education minister Svetlana Trenikhina has proposed using artificial intelligence to help safeguard schools. The system would take over routine monitoring of student behavior, easing the burden on teachers and improving safety.

“We are asking our partners to support us – we would like to use AI to enhance school safety. Cameras, alongside duty staff, could detect risky behavioral patterns among students, allowing teachers to focus on more important tasks,” Trenikhina said. “We would also like to see dedicated tools that make teacher certification processes more seamless and easier.”

The minister added that educators are ready to actively adopt neural networks in education, which she believes will make their work more efficient. AI has already been partially used during final exams, where systems analyze student behavior in real time. The next step is to expand this approach into everyday school life.
