Every student at Kazan State Medical University is expected to receive a personal digital twin under a rollout planned for 2029–2031, according to the university's rector, Airat Farrakhov.

Farrakhov said the approach addresses two objectives at once. Artificial intelligence is expected to improve the quality of medical education, while digital twins provide a more psychologically comfortable learning environment. If a student makes a mistake while practicing, it carries none of the risks associated with treating real patients.

The digital twin technology has already been introduced at the university's School of Dentistry.

“Every student undergoes a modern magnetic resonance scan of their jaw. Using that digital twin, they can simulate every possible scenario—from tooth decay to jaw injuries. They then take their practical exams using their own model,” Farrakhov said.

The university plans to introduce similar training methods at its other schools from the very beginning of students' studies.
