To coordinate this work, the university established the republic’s first university-level Council on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education, chaired by Rector Vadim Zakharov. Training is divided into two levels: the basic level gives students an understanding of the general principles of how AI works, while the advanced level teaches them to apply the technology to specific professional tasks. According to the university’s press service, this approach enables it to train specialists for a broad range of needs across the republic’s economy and social sector.

Oleg Li, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, praised the university’s work, highlighting the Sokol cyber range, a virtual environment for simulating cyberattacks and practicing defensive measures. UUST researchers also presented projects developed jointly with industry partners, ranging from industrial applications to medical technologies.

AI talent development is becoming particularly relevant amid an initiative by Russia’s Ministry of Education: starting in the second quarter of the 2026–2027 academic year, schools across the country are expected to introduce an extracurricular course called “Artificial Intelligence and Information Security.” That will create demand for teachers equipped to teach children the basics of using artificial intelligence technologies.
